Why are you not hunting Arctic Flipper?

Honestly, it's baffling to me that Bon Appeti's Ambrosial Cup still gets so much love, when Arctic Flipper's Polar Ring is just as strong. Instead of Infantry and Ranged stats, you get Ranged and Cavalry stats at the same exact power level.

You can see the difference in monster bus demand. rIP runs lots of Bon Appeti rounds when it is in rotation: on September 15th 2026, their bus rounds totaled 6 Level 5 Bon Appeti rounds. On September 22nd, when Arctic Flipper was in rotation, rIP ran 1 Level 5 mixed monster round and 1 Level 5 Hootclaw round. Arctic Flipper didn't get a single round, and that's typical whenever it's in rotation. I reason that this is because there is quite simply no demand for it. Don't consider this an attack on rIP at all; I am a happy patron on their bus rounds.

Let's first talk about why I think there's no demand, and then move on to why I think you should be interested in hunting Arctic Flipper.

Why nobody asks for Arctic Flipper

Bon Appeti - and its Ambrosial Cup - has been in the game for many years now, and once upon a time, Cups were indeed the most overpowered accessory, compared to all other non-Champion accessories.

My guess is that the community has held onto that belief out of habit, and in doing so overlooked the newer Polar Ring.

My goal is to convince you to at least consider Polar Rings as a viable alternative to Ambrosial Cups.

Polar Ring on defense

Now, it's no secret that taking rallies while offline in Cavalry Phalanx is not a wise move. Ranged does a lot more damage to a Cavalry frontline than Cavalry does to an Infantry frontline, or Infantry does to a Ranged frontline. So sitting offline in a Cavalry Phalanx or Wedge isn't a particularly compelling use-case for the Polar Ring.

Since the majority of people seem to be offline in Ranged Phalanx or Ranged Wedge - unless they are baiting, of course - Polar Ring is a solid piece of equipment for that purpose. In this setup, it may even be stronger than an Ambrosial Cup, since your Cavalry troops will deal more damage to the enemy's Infantry rally than if you were to use Ambrosial Cups.

Let's instead say you're always online to swap formation when your shield is down, and you're confident that you can predict which troops the enemy is sending. Then swapping to Cavalry Wedge or Phalanx will be helped immensely by having a Polar Ring mixed in. A gear setup with 3 Ambrosial Cups has been considered the gold standard for non-Champion accounts for many years, but sitting on them in essence neglects your Cavalry ATK and HP, and thereby increases your losses.

Polar Ring for rally leaders

The Polar Ring is also particularly useful for a rally leader, seeing as it is a contender for multiple attacks:

• Ranged Blast: it is on par with Ambrosial Cup, but slightly weaker than Champion accessories with good Astralite.
• Cavalry Blast: it is stronger than Rowdy Resolve - and much stronger than Fear Drums - but slightly weaker than Champion accessories with good Astralite.
• 055 rallies: it is only slightly weaker than Champion Valor with good Astralite.

What it takes to build one

The Polar Ring needs Arctic Flipper's rare material, Ambergris Crystal. You need 18 Legendary Ambergris Crystal to upgrade it from Legendary to Mythic, compared to 13 Legendary Glowing Halo for the Ambrosial Cup. That's 5 more rare materials for the Ring, but in return, you'll likely have a stash of unused Arctic Flipper Astralite, whereas your Cups would compete for your Bon Appeti Astralite.
